AIMS

Dithyramb Theatre of Drama teaches the art of theatre making. Our aim is to create and perform our own original material here in Scotland.

DTD offers you the opportunity to be part of an active theatre company. You shall have the chance to exercise your acting skills while learning how to work with, create and write, original scripts.

Each week we shall be exploring the teachings of renowned theatre practitioners: Brecht, Artaud, Stanislavski, Stasberg, Boal, Brook and Lepage.

Each stage (graduation) is designed to follow on from the last; gradually taking us through Acting and Improvisations to Script Work and then Script Writing; after which we shall begin rehearsals for our live performance.

This unique opportunity is open to all members of the public; whatever your background or training, Dithyramb is here to encourage and teach you. All that is required is dedication, focus, commitment and a love of live performance.

Throughout the course DTD aims to improve you physically as an actor, including vocal ability, nerve-control and confidence. We also aim to strengthen you mentally in terms of your approach to performing, giving you both the knowledge and understanding to achieve the best possible results.

DTD's course structure takes us all on a journey together, as we devise new ideas and develop fresh storylines, with the ultimate ambition of putting on a self-devised show for the paying public.
